How do you stop the bleeding?

Not how one wishes to be awakened from a semi-doze.  Not under any circumstances. Yet there I was, having just realized I was awake (damned, weird, sleep patterns) when my daughter opens my door and says, “I don’t want to disturb you but I was wondering if you know how to stop the blood from a cut?”, or something close to that. I wasn’t fully awake. Anyway, I dispensed what little first aid knowledge I had topped off with, “and if that doesn’t work, take him to the ER.”  A few short minutes later, I hear her and her friend leave. Did I mention it was almost one o’clock in the morning?

Worry kept me in the almost asleep zone until I heard them come back in. I marked the time to be close to two-thirty. There was no sense of urgency as they shuffled their way to their respective rooms and tucked in for the remainder of the morning (both had to be up early for work, YAY).  I have no details. No knowledge of how the young man, my unofficially adopted son now, received the cut, nor how things went at the ER. I just know that no one died or left blood stains in the house. They made it to work, and all is right with the world.

Except for the fact that I now have a head ache and could use an extra hour or two of sleep.

Life with humans, eh?

Hope you guys have a wonderful day.

Love,

Dana

    1. UPDATE – apparently they were in the kitchen attempting to open a shrink-wrapped pack of chicken for some late night chowing when the knife got away from the young man. He ended up with 3 stitches. So, yes, he’s fine. Perhaps no longer that big of a fried chicken fan, but we’ll see :-).
