Um, yeah – let me take off all of these hats:
- indie author
- publisher
- project manager
- CEO / CFO
- admin professional
- marketing department personnel
- coach
- content developer
- editor
- writer
…oh yeah, and my wig (lol). Whew. Okay, here we go.
Hi.
My name is Dana Ellington. You’re reading a blog post on one of three blogs/websites I have right now. Three! Separate blogs/websites. sigh. I run three separate (sort of) businesses. Well, let me clarify. I’ve been a self-published, indie author since 2008. I started coaching new writers in the art of writing fiction in 2012. I started managing the publishing process for indie authors who wanted to self publish, in 2015. Then I got the bright idea that I wanted to do a version of self-help / life coaching that reached people like me who couldn’t necessarily afford the price tags I’d seen on other programs. I did a soft launch of that just a few months ago. All of these activities has its own website, blog, business structure and services, marketing ideas, etc.
Right now, I feel as if I’m attempting a jig-saw puzzle of a million pieces without knowing what the final image is supposed to look like. I’ve got a few pieces put together here and there (this blog, my production management schedule for new writers, two of my presentations and the curriculum I use for the community school workshops) but beyond that? HA! Scattered. And my ADOSS (Attention Deficit…OH, SOMETHING SHINY) doesn’t help any.
And then we’ve got the various books (novels, short story collections) I have festering on my hard drive. There’s also a new book-baby for a client I’m bringing to market in just a few short months. I haven’t added more than a few hundred words here and there to the two remaining novels I had planned on releasing this year and already a new novel idea, a work book, and planner (of all things) have popped up in the last month.
Sigh.
I’m writing all of this to preface the fact that my blogs (websites) will be going away soon. I’ve got to pull this puzzle together and to do so, I’ve got to develop what I want the final picture to look like. From there, I’m going to separate out the relevant pieces and then put the whole thing together topped off with a right proper launch (live and virtual). In order to make that happen, I’m going to wipe a lot of the slate clean, get the functional pieces situated (don’t want to scrap what’s working), then start from scratch in all the other areas. Hmmm, that’s quite the mix of metaphors. Or are they analogies?
What I’m trying to say is, I’m going to shut it all down in order to build ONE cohesive business website with all the pieces necessary to connect to readers, offer my services to writers, and provide my brand of coaching for livers…um, lifers…no, wait. Hmmm. Going to have to work on that. I think you get the gist.

I’m going to also separate out my personal stuff from the business stuff. Right now its all mixed in together, preventing people from taking either aspect seriously.
I’ve so enjoyed my time here and am looking forward to coming back stronger as both a professional business person and an introverted, mostly human who just wants to write and be read.
Thank you for your readership, the likes and follows kept smiles on my face.
With much love and all the Healing Light I can muster,
Dana
Wow!!! That’s a LOT going on!!!!!!! Keep us posted where we can find you in the future, once everything gets situated and all that. 🙂
Oh there will definitely be an announcement. I won’t delete the three sites until after the revamp is up and running smoothly :-). Thanks!
